Wow, December already!!!
This year, we have seen some good rainfall already across the Cape.
First the fishing news, then teh weather and roads.
Tom (our young guide) has continued to bring in good catches. He and Justin (the other young guide) have been fishing for pleasure. As I write this on Christmas Eve, they are out on the Island Breeze camping between the wharf at Seisia and Red Island.
Our photo board will be showing some of the catches as we upload them over the next few weeks. We will also be uploading videos to YouTube, search Cape York Adventures and subscribe to the channel.
Tom's passion is shark fishing and he has recorded some great moments. A large Tiger landed, a huge Hammerhead hooked and mulitple hits from large and small sharks that astound, like the shark that tried to swallow two large, the sharks that nose and nudge baits and the sharks that come up and make eye contact...
Thanks to all our friends for the great year we have had and we look forward to more fun and adventures in 2012.
BTW: there is now a CYA Twitter account. Search Cape York Adventures and follow for updates. At this time of year it is mostly weather, but coem the season it will be catches and adventures.
Now. the weather:
Cairns has had record breaking rainfall very early in the season. Wendy from Bramwell Station reports they have had several hundred mill of rain this month.
The road is still offically open, but isolated showers will do two things: make the surface slippery and risk damage to the road surface by traffic.
Hi all, once again, half way through the month and there is news to share.
While the entire Cairns region has been deluged, the Cape is still dry and windy. The dry season weather patterns continue.
Tourists have all but finished for this year and we are moving into a great period for fishing and diving. So without guests, our boys will be out enjoying themselves and gearing up for next year.
Check out the staff page for our new guide Justin's profile.
Well, half way through September, but I had to share some of the adventures the boys have been up to.
"Strait Runner" has been chartered to work on the new series "The Straits" being filmed around Thursday Is and nearby islands. Some of the photos are in the photo gallery here.
The fishing has also been great and those photos are in the fishing gallery here.
More at the end of the month as usual.
We have our new vessel "Strait Runner" in operation and she is performing exactly as expected. Fast, comfortable and stable she makes the Thursday and Horn Is trip even better.
August has been a busy time as usual, with the 4wd travellers arriving in numbers daily.
The countryside has dried out and is showing the dry and dustry characteristics we expect.
Interesting video from blip.tv on the wild rivers of Cape York. Cape York's Wild Rivers
It's here!
Our new boat: Strait Runner has arrived. Tom has been shark fishing already and guests are enjoying the new level of comfort on the THrusday Is and Horn Is Fish on the Way tours.
Photos are to follow, so keep looking.
Tom is keen to offer some dedicated game fishing tours for sharks using 8, 15 and 24 kg stand-up tackle. The species he regularly catches are great hammerhead, bull shark, tawny nurse shark, lemon shark, dusky whaler and many more. There is also always the chance of the prized game fish the tiger shark.

The weather has been windy for much of this year, but we are looking forward to a more settled spring season. The water is clear now and conditions are looking good for some great Cape York Advnetures in the October to December period.
