Our guides:

John has been visiting the top of the Cape for over 20 years. His long history with the area and his enduring passion ensure that visitors have the best possible experience. John has been operating Cape York Adventures since 1996 and his extended tours and day trips give guests a special opportunity to explore the region with one of the long-time residents. His knowledge and passion ensure guests enjoy the best the Cape has to offer each day. 

Peter has joined the team this year as operations manager and 4wd guide. He has been visiting the Cape with John since the 1980's and uses this experience and passion to present individual and unique 4wd tours around the local area, to Fruit Bat and Twin Falls for day trips and extended overland safaris from Cairns to the Top.

Sam established Cape York Adventures with John back in 1996 and is responsible for the website, advertising, bookings and general administration. She also guides 4wd tours around the local area.

John uses three boats for his fishing and adventure trips:

"Island Venturer":
7.8m aluminium catamaran ideal for fishing and traveling the wilderness coast, nearby islands and rarely visited spots. Designed for comfort, Island Venturer is powered by twin 90 hp outboards and cruises 20 knots.

"Island Runner":
5m, plate alloy boat, perfect for rivers, coastline and island hopping. Cruises 20 knots. A versatile vessel to fish creeks, islands and estuary as well as explore the wilderness coastline.

"Island Breeze":
21' cruiser designed for comfort and relaxation. Cruises 6 knots. Perfect for attracting the fish, so catching dinner is just part of the day. A day on the Island Breeze trolling the islands is the best way to catch BIG fish, or to enjoy a day cruising around the coral fringed tropical islands. Put your feet up while the music plays in the background, hop off for a swim or snorkel and enjoy one of the best days on the water.  

The three vessels have been designed and built for the tropics with plenty of shade and we always have plenty of cold water and refreshments onboard.
