Cape York Adventures Fishing Holidays

Cape York offers anglers some of the world's best sports fishing and John has been fishing Cape York for 20 years so his experience means you will be fishing in the right place at the right time according to the conditions. This is a fully guided tropical sportfishing holiday where every guest receives individual attention; from the mad keen angler through to the novice and our location gives anglers the opportunity to fish a different area every day.

A Cape York fishing holiday offers anglers the opportunity to chase some of the worlds best sports fish:

Barramundi
Queenfish
Mangrove Jack
Giant Trevalley
Spanish Mackerel
Spotted Trevalley
Striped Mackerel Fingermark Bream
Grey Mackeral Saratoga
Northern Blue-fin Tuna Salmon
Striped Tuna Barracuda
Dog-toothed Tuna Cobia
Long Tail Tuna King Salmon
Coral Trout And even more.

Located at Seisia, near the tip of Cape York, we have the unique opportunity to fish three distinct areas the north east coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria, the Torres Strait and the eastern tip of Cape York coast. We fish pristine rivers, wilderness coastline, and nearby coral fringed islands for a great tropical sportsfishing experience.

The north eastern Gulf of Carpentaria:

Jardine River: pristine, fresh flowing year round, this area produces great fishing at the mouth.

No 1: really called Crystal Creek, it's known to the locals as no 1. Home to Barramundi, this is a great day's fishing.

Vrilya Point: fish the reefs and shoals.

Wilderness coastline: schools of different species of Tuna, Trevally, Mackeral as well as Queenfish, Cobia and Barracuda frequent this area, great action with inshore conditions.

Torres Strait Islands: right at our front door is the spectacular Endeavour Strait sprinkled with coral fringed uninhabited islands providing inshore blue water sportsfishing action, the targets are Mackeral: at least 4 species, Trevally: 4 species, Tuna: 2 species, Queenfish, Cobia, and Barracuda. Sharks are sometimes caught, not surprisingly with so much other fish life around!

The eastern tip of Cape York:

Jacky Jacky & Escape River systems: fish this maze of interlocking mangrove waterways, Barramundi, Fingermark Bream and Mangrove Jack head the list of what you want to catch here, but the number of other species that are here is too big to list.

The Tip of Cape York & Albany Is area: spectacular scenery and home to sportsfish species- Queenfish, Mackeral, Barracuda, Trevally and Tuna.

John uses three custom-built boats to access all the different areas available at the top of the Cape, you are not locked into one location! These boats have all been custom designed for the area with plenty of shade and good seating so you can enjoy your fishing in comfort.

" Island Venturer": 7.8m aluminium catamaran ideal for fishing and traveling the wilderness coast, nearby islands and rarely visited spots. Designed for comfort, Island Venturer is powered by twin 90 hp outboards and cruises 20 knots.

“Island Runner": 5m, plate alloy boat, perfect for rivers, coastline and island hopping. Cruises 20 knots. A versatile vessel to fish creeks, islands and estuary as well as explore the wilderness coastline.

"Island Breeze": 21' cruiser designed for comfort and relaxation. Cruises 6 knots. Perfect for attracting the fish, so catching dinner is just part of the day. A day on the Island Breeze trolling the islands is the best way to catch BIG fish, or to enjoy a day cruising around the coral fringed tropical islands. Put your feet up while the music plays in the background, hop off for a swim or snorkel and enjoy one of the best days on the water.

Cape York Adventures also use a variety of fishing techniques to maximise angling opportunities: lure casting, live baits, trolling lures and baits, strip baits, reef fishing, live baiting, burley and handlines.

Talk to John about the best time for your visit, moon phase and currents do affect the fishing, and John still has some of the best fishing time available this year (2007!)
