LocationCape York Adventures are based at the top of Cape York Peninsula, exploring the Torres Strait and Cape York wilderness. Cairns to the top of Cape York is 1000 kms by road, 800kms by air and sea. At the very top is the area known as the Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) surrounded by water: to the west is the Gulf of Carpentaria, north the Torres Strait, east the Great Barrier Reef and south the Jardine and Jacky Jacky River systems. This unique region is home to Cape York Adventures. Cape York Adventures is based at Seisia an Islander Community on the coast just 30kms from Australia's most northerly point. This unique location gives us access to the east and west coasts of the top of the Cape and the nearby Torres Strait islands. Fishermen and adventurers can enjoy different eco-systems and destinations every day of their visit. Some of the places you will see and visit: The West Coast: Jardine River: wide, sandy and crystal clear. Count the animal tracks on the sand spit, the record is 13 different tracks... Crab Island: world's largest Flatback turtle nesting site... Vrilya Point: See the beached light ship, the beginning of the Gulf savannah, endless beaches, trace the steps of the earliest indigenous and european explorers... The East coast: absolutely spectacular, this area is rarely visited. 'THE TIP': most northerly point of the Australian continent... Jacky Jacky Creek: it's easy to lose yourself in the near endless maze of mangrove lined waterways, home to crocodiles, barramundi and birds, learn how it got it's name, travel on to Escape River and Turtle Head Is, see if you can navigate home ... Travel around the most northerly point of the Australian continent to the Great Barrier Reef, the Mt Adolphus Is group, Albany Is and the historic site of the Somerset township The Torres Strait Islands: mostly uninhabited, surrounded by coral, fish and birds, see relics of long past settlements, graves, goldmines, visit a pearl farm, climb to lookouts, snorkel, catch a fish for dinner... Thursday Island: visit this multicultural bridge between past and present... Horn Island: WWII history, Torres Strait artwork, pass Entrance Is (Zuna Is) on the way Prince of Wales Island: the largest Is in the Torres Strait... Possession Island: see the historic goldmine site, the monument to Capt Cook… The Wallis Islands: 2 reef fringed islands sitting where the Torres Strait becomes the Gulf, ever felt like you were at the end of the earth?...
